'A Fair Lure' by Vikram Grewal 'Haraf'

A Fair Lure

-Vikram Grewal 'Haraf'

S-U-C-C-E-S-S is freedom

from repetition.

Always almost there

But never there yet.

A pursuit depending

Constantly on consonants.

A caged victory

Cursed into a loop,

With recurring S's and C's

Resting on two vowels.

It wishes to be more stable,

Buttressed by broader letters.

Held by three or four vowels,

With no repetition ofcourse!

If only it were spelled:

F-A-I-L-U-R-E.

This poem is a phenomenal symphony of language. The craftsmanship with which you have intertwined the strands of ambition and that slippery nature of success is truly breathtaking. This depicts that you have taken the time to recognize the experiences we all gather when it comes to success and failure. That last twist, the one where you make the secret wish to be failure- it is genius, a deeper level comment on people's obsession with success. I hope I got it right?

Been curious about the reason behind the name Besan ka Halwa. Is there a story behind it? Would love to know!
